Selling books in 2026 can be kind of a nightmare.
You can run ads...
But unless you have a strong backlist or backend, you're almost guaranteed to lose money
You can post endlessly on social media...
And still wonder why all those views aren’t turning into book sales even after years of building a following.
You can use email marketing...
But first you need engaged readers on the list.
One where you...
❌ DON’T have to build the audience from scratch
❌ DON’T have to pay every time someone discovers your book
❌ DON’T need to manufacture endless content just to stay visible
❌ DON’T need thousands of followers before anyone takes you seriously
One where you can have a simple conversation about something you already know...
And potentially get introduced to hundreds or thousands of people who already care about your genre, topic, themes, ideas, or story?
That’s why I love guest podcasting.
Guest podcasting lets you skip the line.
Podcast hosts have already built the audience, earned their trust, and trained those people to listen.
And many of those hosts constantly need interesting guests.
That means you can borrow an audience you didn’t have to build yourself and turn some of those listeners into readers, subscribers, and fans.
That’s a heck of a lot easier than building an audience from scratch.
✅ Sell More Books
Hal Elrod sold over 1,000,000 books.
He said guest podcasting was his #1 strategy.
Podcast listeners get to know about you, your influences, the nuances of your writing...
Which can "pre-sell" them on your book before they click to your Amazon sales page.
✅ Grow Your Email List With ENGAGED Readers
Once they’re on your email list...
You can tell them about your most recent book. Your next book. Your launch. Your preorder. Your audiobook. Your backlist. Your special promotions.
They can become a fan for YEARS.
✅ Build Relationships With Other People In Your Niche
A podcast interview isn’t only about the listeners.
You’re also developing a relationship with the HOST.
That host may... recommend your book. Introduce you to another podcaster. Connect you with another author. Become an affiliate or promotional partner. Invite you to an event. Feature you in their newsletter.
Some of my best business relationships started with interviews.
✅ Establish Authority
Being repeatedly introduced as an author or expert has a funny habit of making people see you as one.
Even if someone doesn’t listen to every interview...
Seeing your name appear on different podcasts creates the... "Hmm... this person seems to be everywhere." effect.
And if you’re a newer author?
Guest podcasting can actually HELP you become established.
You don’t have to wait until you’re already a big deal to start acting like one.
Look at the USA Today Bestseller List.
You'll find many of the top authors are out there guest podcasting.
Across nearly all major genres... fiction AND non-fiction.
Look at some of the biggest authors across completely different genres.
James Clear goes on podcasts to talk about habits and the ideas behind Atomic Habits.
Colleen Hoover has appeared on long-form podcasts talking about her novels, writing career, and adaptations.
Kristin Hannah talks about the history, research, and stories behind her historical fiction.
Freida McFadden talks about thrillers, plot twists, writing, and The Housemaid.
They all use long-form interviews to get themselves, their ideas, and their books in front of other people’s audiences.
As I mentioned before, Hal Elrod sold over a million copies of his book The Miracle Morning.
And he told me his #1 strategy was guest podcasting.
Some authors make guest podcasting way harder than it needs to be.
They think...
"I’m not a bestselling author."
You don’t need to be. There are podcasts for authors at practically every stage.
Some podcasts want famous guests. Others want interesting guests.
Most hosts care far more about whether you can give their audience an entertaining or useful conversation than whether your latest launch hit the New York Times list.
I've seen probably hundreds of pitches in my time as an entrepreneur.
I've received them myself and I review student pitches.
Most pitches are host receives are so bad, they're deleted within about 3 seconds.
When I ask ChatGPT to come up with a pitch...
It often 'reads well'. But still usually misses the mark.
But when you know the right format...
The right order and sequence...
What your pitch MUST include and should NOT include...
You get hosts who LOVE you for reaching out.
I helped one of my clients, Marissa, craft a pitch using what I call the Mission Pitch Method.
Not only did that pitch get her multiple interviews...
One host loved the pitch so much, they "stole" it as a format for their own pitches.

These are just a few of the students I've helped over the years...

Now, I want to make YOU another one of my success stories.
Whether you've never been featured on a podcast...
Have been on a few and want to get on more...
Or are already an experienced podcaster and want to get on the biggest shows in your niche.
To help you do this, I created...

A done-with-you system to help you get booked on the right podcasts, give interviews that create curiosity about your books, and turn listeners into readers, subscribers, and book buyers.
You’re not just getting training. I'll personally help you find shows, topics, pitches, and questions to guarantee you succeed with guest podcasting.
❌ It’s NOT About Waiting Until You’re “Big Enough” To Start
You do not need a huge audience, impressive media résumé, or years of podcast appearances before hosts will take you seriously.
That’s like a person who says, “I’ll join the gym AFTER I’m in great shape.”
You can start with the shows that are a fit for where you are now to...
✔️Build experience.
✔️Get better at interviews.
✔️Collect appearances.
✔️Strengthen your credibility.
And use those wins to help you reach bigger and bigger shows over time.
So you do NOT need to wait until you feel established enough.
Guest podcasting can actually be part of how you become more established.
❌ It’s NOT About Sending Hundreds Of Pitches
Podcast outreach should not be another soul-crushing numbers game.
I’d rather you send a handful of thoughtful pitches to well-matched shows than spray 300 generic emails across the internet.
That means less work for more interviews.
❌ It’s NOT About Becoming A Shameless Self-Promoter
You do not need to spend 45 minutes talking about how amazing you are or awkwardly forcing your product into every answer.
In fact, your product usually shouldn’t even be the topic.
If you sell an email marketing course, you don’t pitch:
"Let me come on your podcast and talk about my course."
Instead, you can teach. Tell stories. Have a good conversation. Give people value.
If you're thinking, "Yeah, but my life is pretty ordinary. There's nothing special."
That's exactly what I thought when I started.
With a few simple prompts though, you can uncover all kinds of fascinating things to share with podcast hosts and listeners that can make you an 'in demand' guest.
And because you do NOT want to shamelessly pitch your book the whole time...
That means this works especially well if you hate aggressive self-promotion.

I started my online business while dead broke working as a valet parker.
In 2012, I made a breakthrough and had a #1 bestselling book.
Since then, I've sold over 100,000 copies of my books, launched and sold thousands of digital products, and helped authors and entrepreneurs with copywriting, email marketing, book marketing, positioning, launches, and audience building.
I’ve coached copywriting for 8-Figure entrepreneur Tanner Chidester’s clients.
In addition to my own business, I currently work with Jon Benson (creator of the Video Sales Letter).
And not only have I done countless interviews, I’ve also been on the other side of this equation.
I've hosted interviews. I've reviewed pitches.
I've seen immediately what makes someone feel like a great guest versus what makes me delete on sight.
I've found people often screw up this process without the right guidance.
I’ve also learned that just giving someone video training often isn’t enough.
They need personal guidance and feedback to really hone in on their Winning Pitch.
That’s why…
You’ll get live group coaching with me.
This is where we can work through the real-world stuff that comes up once you start implementing.
You can bring your...
-Podcast list
-Questions about which shows to prioritize
-Topic ideas
-Pitch drafts
-Talking points
-Interview concerns
-Follow-up questions
I can help you troubleshoot what’s working, what’s not, and what I’d change.
We can even find shows and rewrite your pitch together.
So instead of watching the training and wondering...
“Am I actually doing this right?”
You can bring your work to the calls and get direct coaching.
If you can’t make it live, you can submit everything in advance for me to review and then you’ll get the recordings.
Send me one of your actual podcast pitches within six months of signing up.
I'll review it personally.
I'll show you:
👍What's working
🥱What's generic
❌What I'd cut
📍What I'd move
😀What I'd emphasize
And what may be secretly hurting your chances of getting a reply.
Sometimes a pitch needs a complete rethink.
Sometimes it needs three sentences changed.
Either way...
I'd rather you know BEFORE sending your pitches.
Generic AI prompts tend to give you generic results.
So I took hours of my past training sessions, pitch reviews, coaching calls, and tons of examples...
Fed it to AI...
And trained it to develop AI tools that actually work.
When you join Guest Podcasting Made Easy, you get access to these custom-designed prompts...
Podcast Finder that finds promising shows in seconds. You could have 50 potential podcasts that are a great fit in a matter of minutes.
Topic Revealer that interviews you (or looks at your offer) and gives you hot-button topics and talking points. You won't be stuck wondering "What can I talk about?" after just a few minutes with this prompt.
Show Analyzer that studies a specific podcast and provides topic ideas for a particular show. Use this when there's one show in particular you really want to get on and need to know the best angle to get your foot in the door.
Pitch Creator that gives you a draft pitch based on a proven structure that leads to bookings. I always recommend you add your own humanity, yet this gives you a starting point so you're never staring at a blank page wondering how to draft your pitch.
Pitch Analyzer that shows you exactly how to improve your pitch. You'll find simple tweaks that can potentially transform your pitch from an "I'll think about it" to a "I MUST have this person on as a guest!"
And more coming soon.
To be clear, this process is NOT about asking AI to write up a generic pitch and blast it out to thousands of podcasts.
That almost never works.
You'll still have the human side. This just speeds things up.
And if you don't want to use AI, totally cool.
You'll still see how to do this all without AI.
Plus, you get access to something that, in my totally biased opinion, is better than any AI... my brain.

You could also look into hiring a PR company, and they'd charge you around $900 - $3,000+ a month to get booked on just four podcasts.
That's $10,800 per year on the LOW END.

They're still going to need to interview you, figure out your credibility, talking points, and all the things we'll do together in this program.
And they're not likely going to provide all the additional bonus coaching and support at the lower tier.
Now, I'm not going to do some fake value stack and tell you "It's all worth $32,389!!!"
In the past though, I HAVE charged $997 for a guest podcasting program... and it didn't have all the new features and bonuses you're getting here.
It's pretty common for programs at this caliber to easily sell for $1,000 - $2,000 or even more.
When you just factor in my personal time, I charge $400 for an hour-long consultation.
You're getting far more of my time with the live calls.
This SHOULD be at least $997 like I've charged before even without the bonus interview. And it very likely will go up in price beyond the normal $497.
That means now's the best time you could ever get into this program.
Because the bonuses will disappear... and the price WILL go up.
I can't promise sales results because I don't know whether or not you have a great book right now.
But if all this did was help you make just a single $1 a day in extra royalties... it's paid for itself in under a year.
Let's also look at where else you might invest your money.
You could put $1 a day into Meta ads and, within a year, you would spend more than this entire program.
Do you think a dollar a day in ads is going to do more for your business than all the doors guest podcasting opens for you over the next year... five years... ten years?
The thing is, once you have this process down...
You'll be able to get "free advertising" in front of your ideal customers almost ON COMMAND...
Just by sending a simple email and having a casual conversion.
After you sign up, you'll get access to the course area.
The first thing I suggest you go through is the quickstart.
In less than two hours, you'll have a sense of the entire process.
Within an hour, you'll already have found several great potential shows for you to get featured on.
As you proceed through the program in the coming weeks...
Here's what my goal for you is...
You’re no longer staring at a blank screen wondering where your next subscribers are going to come from.
Instead, you have a list of podcasts that actually fit you.
You know which ones are worth pitching.
You know how to study the show, come up with a strong angle, and send a pitch that sounds like an actual human wrote it.
Then the invitations start coming in.
You have a fun, relaxed conversation.
You talk about something you already know.
And afterward, new people start finding you.
Some join your email list.
Some check out your offer.
Some follow you.
Some buy.
Some invite you onto another podcast.
And one interview can lead to another... and another... and another.
Meanwhile, you’re building authority, creating content, growing relationships, and getting in front of audiences you didn’t have to build from scratch.
That’s the real goal here.
Not to become “a podcast guest.”
To have another reliable way to grow your business that doesn’t depend entirely on ads, algorithms, or posting every day.
And once you know how to do it...
You can keep using the skill for years.
So if that sounds a lot better than fighting for attention one stranger at a time...

Can't I just use a podcast matching service?
That can be a nice complementary strategy. But you're often stuck with smaller/newer shows on these platforms... and you still need to have a compelling set of talking points (which you develop in this program). Also, one year of PodMatch costs more than this entire program.
With Guest Podcasting Made Easy, YOU'RE in control. You get to reach out to the shows YOU want to be on... big or small.
I've never been on a podcast, can I really get booked if I have no experience and no following?
Yes! Many of my students had never been on a show when they joined. Some of them didn't even have an offer, book, course, or anything to sell yet. They were getting their first bookings within weeks. You don't need to be famous. You just need to uncover a few interesting talking points to bring to a show.
Also, remember there are many new podcasts who are eager for guests. So you can start small and work your way up to bigger shows.
I've already been on podcasts, is this just for beginners?
If you've already been on podcasts, this will help you get on bigger, more in-demand shows. You'll see how to leverage your past appearances as credibility and stand out in the inbox of shows that get a ton of pitches.
What if I'm an introvert and not a super compelling speaker?
I'm a hardcore introvert. I hate small talk and "chit chat." If that describes you, good. Many introverts excel at having deep, meaningful conversations, one on one. That's exactly why I've found podcasting actually works perfectly for me and many other introverts.
If you're not totally comfortable speaking, one simple "technique" is to get together with a friend on Zoom and do a practice interview. You'll gain experience, grow in confidence, and develop a greater and greater sense of ease with podcasting.
How much time does this take?
If you just stick to the QuickStart, you can be through it in about 1.5 hours. The live trainings can take about 1 - 2 hours each. For actual podcast interviews, they often last about 30-60 minutes.
Let's suppose you go absolutely bonkers and go on 150 podcasts a year. That's about 3 interviews a week. That might take you about 3 hours for the interviews and a couple of hours to research. That's only 5 hours a week to do a TON of podcasts.
For most people, I recommend just doing a few interviews a month. Eventually, people may start inviting you to do interviews without you always having to pitch them.
Also, remember that podcasting might save you from wasting time on less effective marketing methods. And a podcast interview can produce emails, social media posts, ads, and more as a byproduct by repurposing the content.
How quickly can I get booked?
There are some "low hanging fruit" strategies that could get you booked as soon as this week. For many people, it takes a couple of weeks. The sooner you get started and begin implementing, the sooner I can help you get your first, or next, bookings.
This seems awesome (and Derek, you might be the most charming, intelligent, and really, really, ridiculously good-looking man ever), that said, I'm just not sure NOW is the right time for me to start podcasting.
Okay, so maybe that isn't really a question but more a statement.
Still, for almost everyone, I recommend a Guest Podcasting FIRST approach.
Because if you don't have a following, this is how you can build one.
If you're not well known, this is how you can become known.
I get that you might have a bunch of other courses and programs. So do I.
My promise though is that many of those other things will likely become easier (or irrelevant) once you make guest podcasting a core part of your marketing strategy starting right now.
